Bill Pay allows you to pay virtually anyone or any company through online banking. You determine who you want to pay, when you want to make the payment, and which account you want to use. For example, you can pay utilities, bills, or individuals such as a landlord, babysitter, or relative. You will also be able to send gift checks, and get helpful text alerts and payment reminders. We’ll even keep a record for you of 18 months of payment activity.
how bill pay works
Payments are sent either electronically or by a paper check, however, the majority of payments are delivered electronically. Payments that are made by paper checks are mailed via the US Postal Service. Generally, your payment is received within 2 to 7 days, depending on how it is sent.
pay a person
This convenient feature allows you to make person-to-person payments electronically or by check to anyone you choose, such as a landlord, babysitter or relative. You can Pay a Person one of three ways:
(1) Using the recipient’s email address and a secure keyword of your choosing. The recipient then logs in to a secure website using that keyword and provides the required account information. A payment is deposited electronically from your account into their account.
(2) By providing the recipient’s bank routing number and deposit account information. A payment is deposited electronically from your account into their account.
(3) Provide the recipient’s mailing address and a paper check will be mailed.
Sending money electronically is faster, more convenient and more secure than sending a check. Even if the person can only accept a check, we’ll take care of that for you. That’s because we mail your check directly to the recipient, which saves you a trip to the post office.
An eBill is an electronic version of a paper bill that’s sent directly to your Bill Pay account. Examples of businesses that offer eBills are cable companies, phone service providers, utilities and credit card companies. Using eBill allows you to streamline your Bill Pay routine, by having online access to your bills. In addition, you can view past bills at a glance. Get rid of the headache of keeping track of paper bills!
No need to buy greeting cards to send gift checks to your family and friends anymore! With GiftPay, you can choose from several holiday and occasion options to personalize a check and corresponding note to a recipient of your choice! If you have a bill that’s too close for comfort to the due date, you can use the Rush Delivery option to select a guaranteed delivery option of either next day or two days from the day you schedule it. If you choose an option that includes UPS tracking, you can even monitor the delivery of the payment in transaction history when you view the details. Fees will apply.
safe and secure
Paying bills online is one of the safest ways to pay your bills. Online Bill Pay helps guard against identity theft from lost or stolen checkbooks, bills and statements. It also increases your privacy because only you can access your account information, account numbers and payment history. As a result, you maintain tighter control of your account with real-time access to your payments activity.
