Champlain National Bank’s Use of Cookies

Champlain National Bank does employ cookies on our website.  However, we do not use them to track or collect personally identifying information about you.  We do use cookies to collect anonymous information such as when you visit our website, which pages you view, etc.  This statistical information is used to help us maintain a useful, friendly and informational website.

Our internet banking service, NetTeller®, uses cookies to enhance the security provided to you by multifactor authentication.  A persistent cookie is added to your computer once your identity has been validated.  While this cookie does contain sensitive information, the cookie is encrypted.  And, as with cookies used by our website, we do not use this cookie to collect or obtain personal information about you.

Security Statement

Champlain National Bank (herein called the Bank) provides NetTeller® Internet banking access through Jack Henry & Associates. Jack Henry requires all of its divisions and companies to take proactive steps to ensure that the systems they own or participate in contain adequate security measures to limit the possibility of unintended distribution of confidential information and the potential for fraud-related losses. State of the art firewall technology is the first line of defense in preventing unauthorized access to any information housed.

Secure Data Transfer
Included in this operating system is the capacity to allow only secure connections by end users. Utilizing Secure Socket Layer (SSL) technology, all transmissions of web pages and data between the Bank and its clients are completely encrypted and are unreadable to any person or group trying to "intercept" the transmission. This is evident by the "https" that will appear in the URL (or web address) as opposed to "http." If you are using Internet Explorer you will see a locked padlock at the bottom of your screen when you are in a secure mode, and an unlocked padlock when you are in an insecure mode. SSL encryption is the industry standard and is commonly used in Internet applications that require security and privacy for sensitive data.

Champlain National Bank’s NetTeller Internet Banking currently operates on any computer with a browser that supports 128-bit encryption, such as Internet Explorer®, Firefox on a PC and Safari on a Mac (current major version or two prior major versions). These prerequisites may change with technological advancements. Should these changes occur, they will be posted in this security statement. If you use a type of browser other than the ones listed above, you may not be able to access Online Banking or your connection may not be as secure.

Passwords
Before the client accesses the NetTeller site, they are required to enter their 12-digit user ID and password. Without the proper login, individuals cannot see or use any web pages within the NetTeller product. Both your ID and password can be changed after your first successful login. Password guessing is deterred and reported. The Bank uses a “3 strikes and you’re out” lock-out mechanism to deter users from repeated login attempts. Upon successful login, the Digital ID from VeriSign, the experts in digital identification certificates, authenticates the user's identity and establishes a secure session with that visitor. Log-in sessions have a time-out limit and after the limit is reached you are required to log-in again.

Account Number Masking and Account Aliases
For security reasons complete account number(s) will not appear on the computer screen. Account "Aliases" may be defined for the client's account(s) (i.e., "My Checking") and are used when displaying account information on the screen.
