Champlain National Bank, in cooperation with STOP Domestic Violence, will have used cell phone collection boxes in several of its branches during the month of April. Any donated phones will be given to STOP Domestic Violence, who will then give them to victims of domestic violence. These phones will provide a vital link to emergency assistance because phones without an active service plan can still be used to call 9-1-1. STOP will make sure personal information is removed from any donated cell phone prior to distribution. Any phones that are donated that do not work, or do not have a charger, will be shipped to an environmentally-friendly recycling company.
Branches collecting phones include: Willsboro, Westport, Elizabethtown, Crown Point, both locations in Plattsburgh, and Champlain.
